Day 326: Graphic 45 Scrapbook Page

Today I finished my scrapbook page using papers and stickers from Graphic 45.  I used some dress embellishments from Buttons Galore, pearls from Jolee's, pearl hat pins from Maya Road, part of a flower (I used the lace) from Prima, and a scrap of ribbon from my stash to complete the page.

Day 324: Stampin' Up! Flower Petal Cards

I received a lovely gift of earrings in the mail today from a girlfriend, and was inspired to use these lovely flower petal cards from Stampin' Up. I used some K and Co paper on the inside of the card so that the design showed through the flower openings.  I sponged a little rose distress ink (Ranger) on the top of the card, added a yellow button (SU or my stash, depending on the card) and a green Jolee's pearl in the button center.

Day 313: Faith Book: Presentation Page and Baptism Page

I started working on a (sample) Baptism page for my church's Faith Book today. I used a solid blue paper from my stash as the background page. I used two embossed frames from Making Memories, made some title banners from scrap paper, and used two title blocks from Making Memories as accents for the photos. Sticker letters by Marjolein Bastien. Crosses and starbursts from Jolee's Boutique complete the page.

Day 293: Merry Christmas Train Card

Tonight I was looking to make a really quick card and use up some bits and pieces I had.  I cut a card base from Stampin' Up! card stock, and on top of it I layered a piece of upcycled clear packaging that I had embossed with the Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder, then I added a bit of Merry Christmas ribbon (Oriental Trading Company), and a train and snowflake from Jolee's.  Does this make a cute card or what?!

Day 287: Bird Tile

Tonight I made a bird tile.  I purchased a box of tumbled tiles from my local hardware store so I can make coasters or decorative tiles. I applied the bird rub-on Decor Element from Stampin' Up!, and colored inside the blank areas of the rub-on with Copic markers.  When the ink appeared to be dry,  I peeled off the stencil, used a VersaMark stamp pad to create the blue-green background, and added some flowers from Prima and a few pearls from Jolee's.  I sprayed the tile with a matte acrylic finish by Mod Podge to prevent smearing or running.

Day 280: Butterfly Stitches

I made this card for a baby shower.  Everything I bough for my gift had a butterfly in it or on it, so I wanted my card to have butterflies as well. I used pink and yellow card stock from Stampin' Up! as the card. I used the We R Memory Keepers "Sew Easy" piercer tool kit to make the dots for the stitching, and some of the yellow floss to create a trail from one butterfly to the next. I stitched the butterflies onto the card for security, alternating from dark to light yellow, ending in a multi-color butterfly to symbolize the new baby girl on the way. Crystals from Jolee's add a little bling to the centers of the butterflies.

I adapted a poem by Robin Fogle to use as the sentiment in the card:

Like a butterfly emerges

And unfolds its graceful wings

A child grows and develops

With the love only parents can bring.

Your baby is twice blessed by God:

Once because He has given her wings

And again because He chose you

To teach her to fly...

Day 257: Precious Moments Continued

Today I added the "Precious Moments" title to the left hand page of the spread. I added some Precious Moments wedding stickers to the pages.  I also used Jolee's pearls on the flowers and wedding bells to add dimension.

Day 255: Finishing Touches to For This Child I Prayed

I usually leave my pages on my desk until the next day so I can look at them with a fresh eye.  When I got to my desk today, I thought this page needed a little bling, so I added rhinestones from Jolee's.

Day 254:For This Child I Prayed

I used the pink version of Inspirational Memories' paper,  "Let the little children come to me" (Matthew 19:14) as the background for this page about my daughter.  I used a pinkish peach frame from Wild Asparagus, wrote a letter to my daughter and the Bible verse from 1 Samuel 1:27 onto Stampin' Up! paper, and then embellished the page with some butterflies that I fussy cut from paper by K and Co. The "sweet" and "special" tags were in my stash. Cross also from Jolee's. Journaling pen from Creative Memories.

Day 253: Precious Boy My Joy

The background paper for this page is from Inspirational Memories. I used a frame from Wild Asparagus, fussy cut images out of the bird paper from Stampin' Up! (SU), added the "precious, joy, heaven sent, blessing" stickers from my stash, and then added some mother of pearl buttons from my button box. I wrote my son a little letter on part of the SU paper, as well as the bible verse from 1 Samuel 1:27. The cross is from Jolee's. Journaling pen from Creative Memories.

Day 246: First Communion Page

For this page about my First Communion, I chose background paper from My Mind's Eye, blue lace trim from Big Lots, and embellishments by Jolee's. I made a label using Stampin' Up! card stock and the Fanciful Labels Embossing Folder from Cuttlebug. I used Stampin' Up pens for my journaling. I wrote the Bible verse Matthew 26: 26-28 around the church.  I want to incorporate Bible verses on each page of my Faithbook, so I have to be creative!

Day 208: Tag Album: Part 3

Today I selected the photos I wanted to use, uploaded my photos to a photo website, and had them printed in sepia tones so they would not compete with my papers.  I added the photos and embellished the tag pages.

Day 188: Books of Note Journal

I like to read and I like to write down summaries of the books, or sometimes even take notes chapter by chapter.  Rather than just using a plain old notebook, I buy a black and white composition book and cover it with scrapbook paper and decorate it.  For this one, I used a beautiful bird paper by Prima Marketing for the cover, and purple card stock from Stampin' Up! for the inside and back covers.  I used Smooch pearlized top coat to add some glimmer and depth to the pastel flowers and the bird's wing and tail.  I used some pearls from Jolee's to accent the center of the flowers, the bird's eye, and the keyhole (Tim Holtz). I tied a ribbon around the key and used Lock-Tite glue to adhere the key to the cover. I had some light-colored velvet letters in my stash and altered them with my Stampin' Up! markers for the "Books of Note" title. (I even altered a couple of numbers: turned my 9 into an "S" and turned a 3 upside down to make an E!) I added a multi-layered butterfly to add some more dimension to the upper left of the journal. Finally, I used a pretty variegated pink and purple crochet trim to accent the spine of the notebook.  Now when I write about the books I have read, I have a pretty journal to use to record my thoughts.

Day 167: Remember, Continued

I used a plain rose paper from Anna Griffin as a photo mat and layered it atop a rose floral Anna Griffin print.  I used the floral lace embellishments from Land of Lace as accents to the lower left and upper right corners of the photo.While they looked fine plain, I am glad I used the pink and green pearls from Jolee's to add some further color and dimension to the page.  I added an epoxy "Remember" sticker from Elizabeth Brownd for K and Co. to the photo.

Day 166: Remember

I planned the layout for a photo of my daughter tonight.  I selected the papers and embellished some bridal lace pieces ( Land of Lace)I picked up at Goodwill with some pink and green pearls from Jolee's.

Day 165: Daddy Daughter Dance Scrapbook Page

For this photo of my daughter and husband, I wanted to focus on the pretty rosy pink color of her dress.  I found this really neat glittered scalloped heart from Martha Stewart to put behind their photo.  I layered that on top of a piece of pink vellum from Hot Off the Press, and put that over a pale yellow floral paper by Anna Griffin.  I used a "cherish" tag from the Bohemia Collection by My Mind's Eye and a "memories" tag from the Wild Asparagus collection by My Mind's Eye. I dotted the "i" in the words "cherish" and "memories" with pearls from Jolee's.  I used pink silk flowers from Prima as accents.  I put one at the top left of the page and used three at the bottom right of the page to add more visual weight. The crystal centers I used in the flowers as well as the bird embellishment are by Webster's Pages. I think this turned out to be a sweet page of my husband and my daughter and will bring good memories to mind for them when they see it.

Day 163: Make Your Own 3-D Flowers

For this "birdseye" photo of my daughter, the photographer scattered a bunch of roses around my daughter's head. I thought the roses coordinated beautifully with these two Anna Griffin prints that I used as a photo mat and as a page background.  I fussy cut some roses from another sheet of Anna Griffin paper, used Pop Dots to layers the flowers for dimension, and then accented the flower centers with pearls from Jolees.  I added some ribbon with pearls to either side as borders.

Day 114: A Visit With Santa Page: Day 2

After a weekend away, I finally got back home and back to my son's scrapbook page.  I cut a title from Santa words paper by October Afternoon.  I used the Curlie Girlie alphabet die set by Sizzix and my Big Shot machine to cut the letters for the first part of the title, "A Visit With".  I ran the letters through my Xyron and attached them to Cherry Cobbler card stock from Stampin' Up.  I used a "Santa" crystal embellishment from Me and My Big Eyes to finish my title.  In order to further decorate the page, I added a Santa metal sign embellishment by Tim Coffey and tied a scrap of ribbon to it.  I also added a Santa scene from Jolee's, and even wrote my son's name in the "nice" column.

Day 63: Candy Land Layout Planned

My little boy has loved playing the game Candy Land from the time he was little, and still enjoys playing it, so I wanted to document his love of the game with a layout.  I selected "Bubble Gum Popsicle" paper by BoBunny to use as the background for my two-page layout.  This paper is printed on both sides; I decided to use the white side with multi-colored polka dots.  I thought the primary colors of the dots mimicked the colors in the game board. Since my son was wearing red, I matted my photos on "Real Red" card stock from Stampin' Up! I had purchased a set of Candy Land embellishments by Jolee's to use, so I arranged all of my photos and the embellishments where I wanted them on the background paper.  I will work on this more tomorrow.

Day 62: Fairies

I found this great paper by Graphic 45 that has these beautiful fairies all over it. Titled "Once Upon a Springtime", it made the perfect background page for this photo of my daughter.  In order to save the fairies that would otherwise be hidden, I cut out the center part of the paper behind the 8 x 10 photo and rose mat (American Crafts).  I fussy-cut the fairies out and will use them to make greeting cards.  From the text portion of the paper I saved, I punched out four photo corners using a corner punch by EK Success.  In each of the photo's four corners, I placed the photo corner, added two leaves from Jolee's, and a rose from Stampin' Up! I chose to use two blue roses and two dark pink roses because I wanted to pull in the colors from the fairies on the paper.  I wanted the photo to be the focal point of the page, therefore I did not title the page. I simply wrote my daughter's name and the date beneath the photo using a journaling pen from Creative Memories.
