Day 270: Glamour Shots: Fashionista X 3

Today I worked on this layout of 3 smaller proofs.  I had fun using this Graphic 45 "Fashionista" paper.
I also used some 7Gypsies stickers, a Heidi Swapp clock, some hat pins, a film strip ribbon, and a stapler to add some flair to these fashion photos.

Day 268: Glamour Shots Pages

When my husband and I were dating, I had some "Glamour Shots" taken and decided I wanted to put them in a scrapbook.  Tonight I selected the papers I will use. I think most of the papers will be from Graphic 45. They have a nice line of elegant, upscale papers.

Day 267: Penguin Card

Today I made this cute birthday card for a little girl whose birthday party theme is penguins. The party hat and "top note" dies are from Sizzix.  Punches from EK Success were used to make all the punched shapes.  All card stock by Stampin' Up!

Day 266: Give Me Faith Day 2

Today I mounted the puzzle piece lyrics on a dotted green background paper from Stampin' Up! I used purple card stock (stash)  as a title border on the top of my page, and as the bottom border, where I wrote Jeremiah 18: 1-6 . I added some butterflies from my stash on either side of my title because butterflies break free when they emerge from their chrysalises and I felt like Jesus set me free at Walk to Emmaus.

Day 265: Give Me Faith Day 1

Today in my Breaking Free (Beth Moore) Bible Study Class, the leader of the class played the song "Give Me Faith" by Elevation Worship as a way to prepare our hearts, minds, and souls for the video we would be watching. It really spoke to me in that it reminded me of how I felt when I went to Walk to Emmaus.  I thought I would make a page of some of the lyrics.  I used puzzle pieces from K and Co., stickers by Heidi Grace, and Staz On Ink from Tsukineko and a stamp set from Stampin' Up! to add words to the puzzle pieces.  I am letting everything dry overnight and will finish this page tomorrow.

Today I mounted 3 of the Flower Soft Card Toppers on card bases.  Card stock from Stampin' Up.

Day 262: Flower Soft Card Toppers

Tonight was Girls' Night Out at church, and since it was a last-minute decision to go, I grabbed Aleene's Tacky Glue, some Flower Soft and some Flower Soft Card Toppers and off I went.  I had fun making these card toppers and the other ladies were awed by how pretty they were. It is always fun to try new things like Flower Soft, because it is so easy, but looks impressive. I will let these dry over night and work on mounting them on card bases tomorrow.

Day 261: Stamp A Stack Cards Assembled

Tonight I put together the cards I prepped last night.  It is a good thing I had my cell phone handy to take photos of the originals, otherwise I might not have remembered how to put them all together!

Day 260: Stamp a Stack

Tonight I attended Stamp a Stack at a Stampin' Up! dealer's house.  We made 6 different cards. Actually, I just stamped or ran things through the Big Shot by Sizzix because I forgot tonight was the first night for Survivor!  I will put them together another time!

Day 259: Walk to Emmaus

Tonight I created this page for my Walk to Emmaus group photo.  I wanted to put this picture in my Faith Book because Jesus really changed me there. The colorful cross paper is from Hobby Lobby, which in case you did not know, is owned by a Christian family, which is why the store is not open on Sunday. The purple and yellow card stock were in my stash.  I punched photo corners out of some of the yellow and cut out two of the purple crosses from the paper underneath the photo and used them in the corners as well.  I quoted Luke 24: 13-35 on this page, as it is the verse in the Bible that talks about two of Jesus' disciples meeting him, talking to Him, and walking with Him on the road to Emmaus, but not knowing Him until He broke bread. So like me...

Day 258: Precious Moments Journaling

Today I punched out some paper hearts to use as a background for my journaling.  I wanted to tell a bit of the story about my husband's grandmother encouraging us to go to Precious Moments, and I needed to fill in some empty spaces on the page.  I chose the hearts because they represent love and I used three on a side to symbolize the three of us. I wrote down the verse from 1 Samuel 18:3 on the page about the chapel because Precious Moments was originally named Jonathan and David, and I wanted to remember that.

I wrote the verse from Ephesians 5:31 on our wedding page. It seemed like it fit with the verse about Johnathan and David, because they loved each other as they loved themselves, and isn't that what a husband and wife do, as well?

Day 257: Precious Moments Continued

Today I added the "Precious Moments" title to the left hand page of the spread. I added some Precious Moments wedding stickers to the pages.  I also used Jolee's pearls on the flowers and wedding bells to add dimension.

Day 256: Precious Moments Chapel

When we first started dating, my husband's grandmother really wanted my husband to bring me to the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Missouri. We both loved it so much, we got married at the Wedding Chapel there. (For those who have never been there, these are two different chapels.  The Wedding Chapel, sadly, is no longer available for use.) I decided I wanted a page in my Faith Book about her wish. I also wanted to add a page about our wedding at the  Precious Moments Wedding Chapel. Since the Precious Moments colors tend to be very pastel in nature, I chose papers from a line by Tim Coffey as my backgrounds. I fussy cut some flowers and an oval from one paper and used pop dots to add dimension to a duplicate paper for a page for our wedding photo.  I arranged my photos on the page about my husband's grandmother and cut out letters from the "Curlie Girlie" alphabet dies on my Big Shot machine for the title.  ("Curlie Girlie" dies and Big Shot by Sizzix) I will work more on these tomorrow.

Day 255: Finishing Touches to For This Child I Prayed

I usually leave my pages on my desk until the next day so I can look at them with a fresh eye.  When I got to my desk today, I thought this page needed a little bling, so I added rhinestones from Jolee's.

Day 254:For This Child I Prayed

I used the pink version of Inspirational Memories' paper,  "Let the little children come to me" (Matthew 19:14) as the background for this page about my daughter.  I used a pinkish peach frame from Wild Asparagus, wrote a letter to my daughter and the Bible verse from 1 Samuel 1:27 onto Stampin' Up! paper, and then embellished the page with some butterflies that I fussy cut from paper by K and Co. The "sweet" and "special" tags were in my stash. Cross also from Jolee's. Journaling pen from Creative Memories.

Day 253: Precious Boy My Joy

The background paper for this page is from Inspirational Memories. I used a frame from Wild Asparagus, fussy cut images out of the bird paper from Stampin' Up! (SU), added the "precious, joy, heaven sent, blessing" stickers from my stash, and then added some mother of pearl buttons from my button box. I wrote my son a little letter on part of the SU paper, as well as the bible verse from 1 Samuel 1:27. The cross is from Jolee's. Journaling pen from Creative Memories.

Day 252: Let the Little Children Come to Me

In my stash I have had blue and pink papers with the verse "Let the little children come to me" (Matthew: 19:14), just waiting to be used.  I think God was saving them for my Faith Book.  I am using the blue paper (copyright 2005 by Inspirational Memories) for my son's baby picture. It took me some time to decide how to decorate this page.  I don't have very many baby embellishments any more, so it took a while to figure out what I was going to do.  I will work on this some more tomorrow.

Day 251: Pictures and Papers for My Faith Book

The next pages I want to add to my Faith Book are about the births of my children.  I found some pictures of the kids when they were newborn, and went through my stash of papers to see what would work for their pages.

I struggled at first with the lack of faith-based papers available in my local stores.  I looked at some papers on the internet, but a lot of them are for milestones like baptisms or weddings.  My husband encouraged me to just use regular scrapbook paper.  I have been doing that, and trying to add scripture verses to each page.  In a way, I like it better because I am looking up my favorite verses in the Bible, so it keeps God's word in my mind when I am working on my Faith Book.

Day 250: How We Met Part 2

Today I added our story to the rose background photo paper.

Day 249: How We Met Part 1

I wanted to tell the story of how my husband and I met each other, because God used a lot of people to send my husband from Missouri to New York so we could meet and fall in love.  Since my dress in the photo I plan to use is a rose print, I needed a paper that was not too busy to use as a background paper.  I found a photo paper of a rose in my stash, and decided that would be the perfect background.  I decided that I would center my photo in the middle of the rose photo paper and write the story across the rose petals.  I got the story down on paper, and will write it tomorrow when I am feeling fresh.

Day 248: Confirmation Page Completed

I selected this paper from Stampin' Up! Designer Paper as my background paper for my Confirmation page. I used "rich razzleberry" card stock (also SU) to mat my photos and embellishments (Sandylion). I used metal letter stickers by Paperbilities to spell out "Confirmation" in the upper left corner of the page. I cut circles from the "rich razzleberry" and silver (?) card stock using my Sizzix machine and a circle die from Lifestyle Crafts.  Around the circles, I wrote Bible verses from Acts19:6 (upper right corner), 2 Corinthians 1:21 (lower right corner) and Ephesians 1:13 (lower left corner).

Day 247: Started Confirmation Page

Today I selected my background paper and matted all my photos for my Confirmation page.  I decided to arrange the photos in a cross shape. I will plan out the embellishments for each corner of the page tomorrow.

Day 246: First Communion Page

For this page about my First Communion, I chose background paper from My Mind's Eye, blue lace trim from Big Lots, and embellishments by Jolee's. I made a label using Stampin' Up! card stock and the Fanciful Labels Embossing Folder from Cuttlebug. I used Stampin' Up pens for my journaling. I wrote the Bible verse Matthew 26: 26-28 around the church.  I want to incorporate Bible verses on each page of my Faithbook, so I have to be creative!

Day 245: Dedication Page

Today I worked on my Dedication page.  I wanted to dedicate my album to the Lord, and I have been trying to come up with the best way to do it.  This paper was the reverse design of the paper I used for my Baptism page, and I thought it was pretty, and there was space on the right for me to journal this prayer to the Lord, so I decided to use it as the page background. It works out well because the Dedication page will be the first page in the album and the Baptism page will be the second page.  The prayer was copied from Sharon Sheridan's book, Pages of Faith:  The Art of Spiritual Scrapbooking, with a few modifications. I used a journaling pen from Creative Memories to write the prayer and the Bible verse from 1 Corinthians 10:31 along the stem of the branch supporting the upper bird. I underlined words I wanted to emphasize with gold Smooch paint by Hampton Arts . The "faith" embellishment is from Me and My Big Ideas.

Day 244: Selecting Photos for First Communion and Confirmation Pages

Today I went through my photo albums and selected the photos I want to use on my First Communion and Confirmation pages.

Sunday, September 2, 2012

Day 243: Baptism Page

For this baptism page, I chose a brown background paper as there were a lot of brown tones in the photos. Paper by Susan Winget for K and Co. I used "chocolate chip" card stock from Stampin' Up! as mats for my photos, journaling, and the embellishments by Me and My Big Ideas.  I used my HP scanner to scan my actual baptism certificate into my computer, shrank it, then printed it out on "very vanilla" card stock from Stampin' Up! I wrote out the Matthew 28:19 around the mat of the cross.

Day 242: Faithbooking

I have been doing some research via the Internet about Faithbooking. What I have found so far has intrigued me, so I borrowed some books through inter-library loan to see what Faithbook pages look like and to get ideas for topics or themes to base my pages on. I spent a while tonight reading one of the books I borrowed, Pages of Faith:  The Art of Spiritual Scrapbooking by Sharon Sheridan. I have been writing down ideas of what I would like to remember in my Faithbook.
