Day 349: College Photo: Lady in Red

Today I added the title "Lady in Red" to the page. I also kept working on embellishing my page with items from my stash.

Day 348: College Photo

Today I worked on my college photo. I selected papers from one of Stampin' Up!'s series of designer papers. I chose three papers that were all red tones to layer. I began adding some images from Graphic 45's "Ladies' Diary" along with some buttons and other goodies from my stash. It still needs more, so I will work on it again tomorrow.

Day 326: Graphic 45 Scrapbook Page

Today I finished my scrapbook page using papers and stickers from Graphic 45.  I used some dress embellishments from Buttons Galore, pearls from Jolee's, pearl hat pins from Maya Road, part of a flower (I used the lace) from Prima, and a scrap of ribbon from my stash to complete the page.

Day 319: Little Yellow Bicycle Acorn Hollow Scrapbook Page

Today I created this scrapbook page for The Paper Forest Scrapbook Boutique, a new scrapbook store that opened in Washington, Illinois. Products used are from the Acorn Hollow line by Little Yellow Bicycle, Stampin' Up! (lace), and Tim Holtz (metal photo corners).

Day 314: Faith Book: "SPF 12 Following the Son" VBS Page

The kids at our church always make a photo frame that reflects the frame of VBS for the week.  They get their photo taken and put it in the frame.  I decided to use a lot of Creative Memories products on this page because they worked with the colors in the photo.

Day 313: Faith Book: Presentation Page and Baptism Page

I started working on a (sample) Baptism page for my church's Faith Book today. I used a solid blue paper from my stash as the background page. I used two embossed frames from Making Memories, made some title banners from scrap paper, and used two title blocks from Making Memories as accents for the photos. Sticker letters by Marjolein Bastien. Crosses and starbursts from Jolee's Boutique complete the page.

Day 282: Glamour Shots: Sugar and Spice Part 2

My daughter helped me decide how to embellish this page tonight.  I was showing her some crocheted flowers (Prima) I have been wanting to use, but I thought even though they were "soft" looking, they were almost too "heavy" for the page.  She noticed a gold heart that I had saved from a handbag (Relics), and suggested that I place it under one of the flowers to help the flower to look softer.  Those opposing soft and hard textures helped the flower to feel lighter, because that heavy gold heart grounds it. Last but not least, I added the beautiful stud and pearl swirl by Prima to the left side of the photo.

Day 280: Glamour Shots: Pearls and Leather Part 3

I added some tan Prima flowers with matte gold brads and a heart embellishment (Buttons Galore) to the page and now I am happy.  Pearls and Leather page is finished!

Day 279: Glamour Shots: Pearls and Leather Part 2

Now that we have returned from our weekend trip, I can get back to work on this scrapbook page.

I really like the look of all the "banners" that have become so popular. I had some tags in my stash that I thought worked with this page, and decided to make a banner with them.  Using my Crop-A-Dile, I added copper and pewter eyelets to the tags, and then laid them across a strand of the torn pearl paper (Graphic 45) to make a banner.  I found some typewriter key letter stickers in my stash and spelled out my name on the center three tags. While going through my stash, I found some coordinating stickers (and for the "love" sticker, a coordinating overlay, which I stapled on), I made a border for the bottom of the page. I am not happy with this page yet.  It needs something more.  I will leave it tonight and work on it again tomorrow.

Day 275: Glamour Shots: Pearls and Leather Part 1

For this page of Glamour Shots, I chose a pink distressed background paper (Basic Grey).  I knew I wanted to use the pearl paper by Graphic 45 as a contrast to the studded black leather jacket I was wearing in the photos. I tore it to kind of roughen it up and make it work with the distressed background. I decided where to place my photos on the page, and that is all for tonight.  I have to go get ready for our trip.

Day 216: Happy Birthday: Polka Dots

We had this collage made of my son when his photos were taken at Sears Portrait Studios.  I love how the photographer created the saying with the different colored circles.  I decided to use two different color polka dot backgrounds from Stampin' Up! to play off the circles. (The brown polka dot frame is part of the collage!) I also used some cute dot ribbon from DCWV across the bottom of the page.  I punched circles to back three birthday plaques from Making Memories and put those on top of the ribbon. I also punched out some photo corners from the SU dot paper.  Punches are Paper Shapers by EK Success.

Day 215: Second Grade

I really liked the idea of the leaf background for my son's photo.  It just seemed like fall and school photo should go together. Then I bought an embellishment kit from 3 Birds on HSN, and what should be included, but a cute school house and trees with turning leaves!  I added this cute "2nd Grade" laser cut title from Laserline to add to the school feel. I purposely chose fairly quiet background papers from Stampin' Up! so that most of the focus would be on the photo of my son and the cute embellishments.

Day 205: Me and My Guy Dance

My daughter and my husband went to her Girl Scout "Me and My Guy Dance".  She wore the zebra print dress I scrapped yesterday, but this photo was printed in sepia, so I used pinks and browns to match the sepia tone of the picture.  Papers from Bo Bunny.  Flower buttons from Stampin' Up!  "Memories" title from Colorbok.

Day 202: It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Yes, I know it is July, but I needed to make a page for a picture of my kids with Santa. I used some designer series paper from Stampin' Up!; snowflakes, title, and journaling stickers from October Afternoon; and red "dew drops" from The Robin's Nest. The aqua and red give a little lighter twist to Christmas pages, and the patterns of the papers meld well with the colors the kids are wearing and Santa's patterned vest.  This page is for my son.  I made a similar page for my daughter, see Day 141, A Pastel Christmas.

Day 201: "Wild" Scrapbook Page

My son and I attended a Mother-Son Dance at his grade school.  The theme was all wild animals, so I chose to use several animal print and textured papers to create this scrapbook page.  I matted the photo on a golden yellow mat (Making Memories), then on a leather look mat (Marcella by K), and then on a black mat (Stampin' Up!). I cut four different prints into 6" x 6" squares and then attached them to a 12" x 12" piece of card stock [which is a good use for a paper you are not so keen on!].  The two papers on the left side of the page are from the "Safari Kids" collection from DCWV.  The flocked leopard paper is by Anna Griffin, and the brown zebra print is by Moxxie. Once I had all my different animal prints in place, I added my matted photo to the center of the page. I felt like the upper left print and lower right print were not as strong visually, so I used my "wild about you" stamp from Stampin" Up! to add even more texture to the prints. I spelled out my title "wild" using giraffe stickers from Momenta on the same brown leather paper I used as a photo mat. I layered that on top of more black card stock and trimmed the edges with my scalloped scissors from Provo Craft. Since the giraffe print letters were a little pale, I used a yellow Stampin' Write marker to add some yellow to mimic the layers of the photo mats. I punched a scalloped circle from black card stock to use as a background behind a re-purposed lion pencil topper.  Finally, I added black photo corners in each corner of the page to pull it all together.

Day 200: Future Football Star Scrapbook Page

I always get my kids' photos taken at Sears Portrait Studios.  They always do a really nice job on them! My son really wanted to take a photo with him catching the football.  The photographer managed to get the shot, then converted the photo to black and white, added two small color insets of other photos, and then did this great title "Future Football Star" and my son's name in an orange font with a royal blue shadow.  Orange is my son's favorite color, and the royal blue matched his shirt.  In order to keep most of the focus on the photo collage, I used a "varsity" numbers background paper from Jillibean.  I added two title strips from Creative Memories to make help emphasize the royal blue and orange font on the photo collage.  Then I added two arrows (Little Yellow Bicycle) pointing up, to help draw the eye up to the football in the photo.

Day 199: Touchdown Scrapbook Page, Continued

Today I continued working on the "Touchdown" football page of my son.  My chipboard letters were dry, so I added some silver dots to the letter "D"( it was manufactured by Deja Views) to match the "MVP" letters made by Little Yellow Bicycle. I used StazOn ink from Tsukineko and silver (heat) embossing powder from Stampin' Up to alter the color of some star clips purchased from Oriental Trading Company.  These added a little bit of pizzazz to the dark letters, and, also covered up a flaw in the letter V.  Sometimes having to fix mistakes or flaws ends up adding a little extra "something-something" to your work!  I also ended up trimming my son's 8" x 10" photo to 4.25" x 10" so that more of the football would show.  Don't be afraid to crop your photos...all I lost was some blue background , but I gained a much more interesting scrapbook page because I used an unusually shaped photo.

Day 198: Touchdown Scrapbook Page

I started working on a scrapbook page of my son tonight.  He had some photos taken for his birthday with a football as a prop, so I used a football field paper from Reminisce as my background paper.  Over that I layered a football die cut, also from Reminisce. I spelled out the words "Touchdown" and "Daniel" using letter stickers by EK Success. There were no numbers in that particular set of stickers, so I had to use some from Echo Park Paper Company to spell out "is 7" and the year "2010".  I want to add his initial "D" and the letters "MVP" to the page, so I inked them with black ink and will need to let them dry overnight.  I will finish this page tomorrow.

Day 170: Memories x Three

For this photo of my kids and my niece, I selected "blue dot frost" from Bo Bunny as the main background paper for the photo.  I used a gold leaf print from Stampin' Up! for approximately 1/3 of the background.  I traced a scalloped paper I had onto a striped Stampin' Up! paper, cut it out,  and layered it toward the bottom left of the page. I used a rust paper, also by Stampin' Up! to fill in the blank spake of one half of a brown chipboard frame from Bo Bunny, and layered that beneath the right side of the photo. I added an epoxy "Memories" sticker from K and Co. on top of the half frame.  Three rust buttons and three brown buttons help to carry the colors around the page, as well as reinforce the theme of the three cousins.
