Day 221: Monster Truck Card

My husband and I are very close with my husband's cousin, and her teenage son has a birthday coming up.  I decided a monster truck card might be considered "cool".

I used "chocolate chip" card stock from Stampin' Up! as the card base.  I ran a piece of brown leather look paper from my scrap folder through Cuttlebug's "tire track" embossing folder.  I stamped the Great Impressions monster truck stamp with Memento Ink on Neenah paper, and colored it with my Copic markers. I cut out the truck and  used pop dots to adhere it to the tire tracks.  I layered that on top of a "sand" paper in my scrap folder.  I used my Crop-A-Dile and added 5 black eyelets across the top and bottom of the card to rev it up a little bit.

Day 220: Cards for Boys

My kids got invited to some birthday parties and I needed to make some boy cards.  Tonight I used stickers from Karen Foster, yellow paper from Creative Memories, a background stamp from Great Impressions, ink from Stampin' Up!, and bits and pieces of leftover papers to create these 5 cute cards.

Day 107: Lovely as a Tree Sympathy Card

Unfortunately, the husband of my friend and Stampin' Up! demonstrator died, so I needed to make her a sympathy card.  One of her favorite Stampin' Up! stamp sets is Lovely as a Tree, so I decided to use one of the images from that stamp set on the front of the card.  I used a paper that gradually changed tones from Anna Griffin as the background for the tree image and for the background for the inside sentiment.  I heat embossed the image of the trees using VersaMark and clear embossing powder from Stampin' Up. The sentiment "Remembering with you the life of someone dear." is from Repeat Impressions, and was stamped with Old Olive ink from Stampin' Up!.  I used one of the labels from Cuttlebug's Fanciful Labels Embossing Folder Plus and my Sizzix Big Shot machine to make the label for the sentiment.  I added gold brads to the label, highlighted the raised parts of the label with Old Olive ink from Stampin' Up!,  and ran a sheer green ribbon behind the label to dress up the front of the card.  I layered the stamped image and the label on top of a striped paper from a Stampin' Up! designer paper collection, and then layered all of that onto a piece of  Stampin' Up! Old Olive card stock. On the inside of the card, I stamped a sentiment from Great Impressions: "What a beautiful difference a single life made." I then die cut and embossed two more labels on Old Olive card stock from Stampin' Up! to frame out the sentiment on the inside of the card.

Day 19: It's A Pirate Card For Me!

I needed some boy birthday cards, so I made half a dozen cute pirate cards today. I used Nearly Navy cardstock from Stampin' Up! as my card base, and a striped print from The Paper Studio as a layer on top of the navy. Using a pirate stamp from Great Impressions, I stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock (Stampin' Up!) and then colored in the stamped image. I used Koh-I-Noor Hardmuth Colour Pencils (woodless) and Gamsol Odorless Mineral Spirits to color the pirate and his treasure chest. This was based on a technique I learned while at a stamp show from Inky Antics Rubber Stamps. The sentiment on the inside of the card reads: "Cheers to ye birthday boy! Now, draw ye sword and cut ye cake." I found the sentiment on the e-how.com website. I now have some cute cards for the boy birthdays coming up.
