Day 266: Give Me Faith Day 2

Today I mounted the puzzle piece lyrics on a dotted green background paper from Stampin' Up! I used purple card stock (stash)  as a title border on the top of my page, and as the bottom border, where I wrote Jeremiah 18: 1-6 . I added some butterflies from my stash on either side of my title because butterflies break free when they emerge from their chrysalises and I felt like Jesus set me free at Walk to Emmaus.

Day 265: Give Me Faith Day 1

Today in my Breaking Free (Beth Moore) Bible Study Class, the leader of the class played the song "Give Me Faith" by Elevation Worship as a way to prepare our hearts, minds, and souls for the video we would be watching. It really spoke to me in that it reminded me of how I felt when I went to Walk to Emmaus.  I thought I would make a page of some of the lyrics.  I used puzzle pieces from K and Co., stickers by Heidi Grace, and Staz On Ink from Tsukineko and a stamp set from Stampin' Up! to add words to the puzzle pieces.  I am letting everything dry overnight and will finish this page tomorrow.

Day 259: Walk to Emmaus

Tonight I created this page for my Walk to Emmaus group photo.  I wanted to put this picture in my Faith Book because Jesus really changed me there. The colorful cross paper is from Hobby Lobby, which in case you did not know, is owned by a Christian family, which is why the store is not open on Sunday. The purple and yellow card stock were in my stash.  I punched photo corners out of some of the yellow and cut out two of the purple crosses from the paper underneath the photo and used them in the corners as well.  I quoted Luke 24: 13-35 on this page, as it is the verse in the Bible that talks about two of Jesus' disciples meeting him, talking to Him, and walking with Him on the road to Emmaus, but not knowing Him until He broke bread. So like me...

Day 41: Make and Take Alcohol Ink Bookmark

Today I went and delivered all of the notepads and pens I made for the Women's Walk to Emmaus in Peoria.  Then I went to Rubber Rainbows located in Tremont Gallery in Tremont, Illinois.  I have heard lots of great things about this little rubber stamp shop, and I wanted to go and see what it is like.  They have a free Make and Take workshop the second and fourth Fridays of the month.  Today they taught us how to make an alcohol ink bookmark.  We placed three colors of alcohol ink onto a felt pad, added some blending solution, and then dabbed the felt pad onto a piece of metal over and over again. When the metal was dry, we placed it inside of a Cuttlebug embossing folder, ran it through the Cuttlebug machine, and then it was embossed with the design. We then used a sanding block to remove some of the embossing ink off from the raised portions of the metal, only leaving colors in the background. Then we mounted our bookmark onto silver card stock, and then layered the silver card stock onto a piece of blue card stock.  It was fun to learn a new technique; although it didn't really end up being free....of course I had to buy some stuff while I was there, and I will probably sign up for a class or two or three....

Day 38: Agape Finished!

Found out the total number for the Women's Walk to Emmaus.  There are 12 pilgrims and 30 staff, so I only needed to make six more notepads and pens today.  I am glad I made 12 pads on two days earlier this week.  Now I can get those creative juices flowing towards cards and the kids' scrapbooks again.  What will I do tomorrow??

Day 37: 36 and Counting!

Twelve more notepad and pen sets done today; that makes 36 done so far.  I should know the exact numbers for the Women's Walk tomorrow, so hopefully I can get finished up and do something different on Wednesday.  I am sure everyone is tired of reading that I am working on the same thing each day.  However, I am blessed to have the ability to make things, so it is only right that I share and give encouragement about God's love (agape) to those who are seeking to get closer to Him when they go on the Walk to Emmaus journey.

Day 36: Two dozen finished!

So, I have 24 notepads and pens finished for the Women's Walk to Emmaus coming up this weekend.  I am so much further ahead of the game working on the agape for this second walk.  Knowing approximately how many to make is really helpful.  And at this point, I think I can make these in my sleep...there are a couple of nights when I was so tired, I really think I was!!

Day 35: Getting Faster

The more I make these notepad and pen sets, the faster I get.  I have sort of been using an "assembly line" type process where I put all the double-sided tape on first, then the white card stock, then the covers; then I make the pens, and add the ribbons, and secure the covers. I made 8 more sets tonight.

Day 31: One month down, eleven to go!

I have managed to scrap, stamp, or paper craft something every day this month! Woo hoo! Today I got seven more notepad and pen sets done for the Men's Walk to Emmaus. Seven more to do for that and then I will start to work on the sets for the Women's Walk.

Day 30: 30 Notepad and Pen Sets Made!

So far I have made 30 notepad and pen sets. I finished up the pens that matched the cross notepads tonight. Can't wait to know actual numbers of people who are attending so I can gear up to get done for the men's walk. I was told to plan on 50 people for each walk, but I would like to do some notepads and pens that are a little more feminine for the women, and for a change of pace. I can make 6 notepads from one piece of 12 x 12 inch paper, so I have been making 6 of a pattern at a time. It breaks it up a little bit if I change the pattern.

Day 29: The Cross of Many Colors

Worked on 6 more notepads tonight, using this cross of many colors paper by The Paper Studio.

Day 28: Pens, pens, and more pens

My son's Cub Scout troop had their pinewood derby today, and my daughter's Girl Scout troop ran the concession stand for the event. That means we were up at 6:30 AM and at the event by 7:30 AM to set up, and didn't leave until everything was cleaned up at 2:00 PM. We came home, took naps, and went to our church at 5:00 PM for Family Fun Night, where we played Minute to Win It. So, needless to say, I am tired. I did make pens and put the ribbons for pens on some notepads I made last night. A few more sets done for the Walk to Emmaus.

Day 26: The Cross

Tonight I worked on more notepads and pens for the Walk to Emmaus coming up. I changed to a cross pattern of paper, (The Paper Studio) to change things up a bit. Also, I am finding that the best double-sided tape for attaching the covers to the notepads is Terrifically Tacky Tape by Provo Craft.
